What are the safety issues impacting you and your community? When our communities were the safest, it was not because of an outside entity, it was because we had a strong, united community. We had strong communities because we communicated, we looked out for each other, and we took an active role in dealing with the community's problems. Refund Raleigh is an organization of young people here in Raleigh and mainly in SE Raleigh that is fighting for the reestablishing of these strong communities. We define public safety from a community-centered perspective. We believe nobody can bring our neighborhood's safety, it’s something we must do ourselves. This society likes to make us feel powerless and that we can’t change our condition. But we know this is far from the truth. We are a powerful people and it’s time to reclaim that power.
